An Interview With Alex Azoury

Who are you and what are you currently working on?

I’m Alex Azoury, the CEO and Founder of Home Grounds, a resource blog for coffee enthusiasts.

How did you get started in affiliate marketing? What keeps you excited about it?

I didn’t know what affiliate marketing was initially because my only goal was to deliver quality content to fellow coffee enthusiasts. However, the instant I learned I can monetize what I’m doing was a light bulb moment that I should do it full-time.

Since coffee is a passion of mine, creating and producing content that helps people worldwide helps motivate me to continue what I’m doing. That said, it is best for new affiliate marketers to focus on an area they are passionate about because it helps keep motivation levels at optimum ranges.

What is one piece of advice you would give a newbie affiliate marketer? What is one piece of advice they should ignore?

I want to quote an inspiration of mine, Naval Ravikant, who said, “impatience with actions, patience with results.” Those words have a massive impact on my life, and I always make sure that I live every day, fulfilling what Mr. Naval taught me to the best of my ability.

I also recommend new affiliate marketers to have substantial knowledge before starting. Unlike what most affiliate marketing gurus teach, the actual process is complicated and painstakingly slow. Because of that, new affiliate marketers would have to waste precious resources before knowing what works and what doesn’t.

What has been your favorite mistake? A mistake in retrospect led to a great lesson and progress in your affiliate marketing?

My favorite mistake is getting burnt out quickly from expecting fast results. Although I knew that it takes time, the waiting period is more emotionally-draining than I anticipated.

However, the experience was enriching because I had to refocus my attention and rewire my thought processes. In doing so, I also taught myself patience in the process, which was a virtue that helped me in every other aspect of my life.

What is one piece of software or web service (besides Geniuslink) that allows you to be more effective as an affiliate marketer?

I recommend affiliate marketers to invest in a reliable social media management software that automates their post scheduling. With an automated set-up, affiliate marketers no longer have to worry about missing a post. The best part is that they can intelligently pick the time and date to post content so that it receives optimal audience engagement.

How do you continue to educate yourself as an affiliate marketer? What are some of your favorite resources for learning?

I always have healthy discussions with fellow affiliate marketers. We share and exchange information, experiences, and opinions. In doing so, it helps broaden our minds. I advise new affiliate marketers to do the same and network with others, especially seasoned affiliate marketers, because they have a lot to teach you.

Aside from networking, I also browse through various online content. However, I find that the most critical pieces of information I learn is from my network. That said, aspiring affiliate marketers should establish an excellent relationship with nearby affiliate marketers to expedite their growth.

If people wanted to connect with you, where should we point them to?

People can reach out to me on Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook.
