End of the Amazon Associates Era?

Note: This blog is based on a presentation our CEO / co-founder Jesse Lakes gave at Affiliate Summit West 2020 and a recent YouTube video with the same name.

For most creators, bloggers and affiliate marketers, Amazon’s affiliate program is the central, de-facto, affiliate program for earning commissions.

Yes, that’s a bold statement but I think it’s been earned.  For over 20 years Amazon has offered an easy to learn, easy to use, and high converting affiliate program that covers a massive product catalog.

And yet, in the last few years these same creators, bloggers and affiliate marketers have been seeing their revenues drop, accounts closed and seem to be changing their perception of Amazon’s affiliate program from love to fear.

Thriving after Craft + Commerce 2019

We survived Craft + Commerce!

No, that’s not right, we are thriving because of Craft + Commerce!

As I mentioned in my 4 Goals for Craft + Commerce 2019 blog post before the event, we doubled our attendance this year from two to four team members, and I can empirically say that this year’s Craft + Commerce event was another massive success on many levels.

2015 is upon us, and although we don’t have our hoverboards or time traveling DeLoreans, this year is shaping up to be monumental for GeoRiot.  As we move into the new year and approach our 5th birthday this February, we wanted to take a look back at all of the incredible milestones that you helped us achieve in 2014!

SXSW 2013 In A Nutshell

Question: What do you get when you put 2,000 musical artists; every tech product or company who matters (and the ones who hope to matter in 2013); and 30,000 entrepreneurs / nerds / thought leaders, together in one weird city for 10 days?

Answer: The ultimate work / play vacation.

georiot-sxswWe knew it would be aggressive to attempt the full 10 days for our SXSW premiere, but we survived and lived to spread the GeoRiot word – while having way too much fun in the process. We can’t begin to recount the panels, concerts, underground parties, new friends and enlightening conversations that happened over the course of the event. (Hey, what happens at SX stays at SX, right? Even if Coolio himself plucked one of our own from behind the red velvet rope and into the VIP section…)

What’s special and unique about SXSW is the opportunity to spend an extended period of time learning, sharing and exchanging with your peers in the music and tech (and beyond) industries, and for that we’re grateful for the chance to meet all of you. A big shout out goes to our friends at Say Media, Path and Dyn for hosting such rockin’ parties and giving us something to look forward to next year.

While we’re on the topic of shout outs, Evil Dead, a remake of the 1980 cult horror classic, which premiered at this year’s SXSW, was a team favorite during the Film portion of the event. Hats off to the directors on a job well done.

Finally, cheers to Cole Lakes, (better known as the younger brother of GeoRiot CEO Jesse) for putting up the entire team in his new Austin home. (Think of it like a housewarming party, right Cole?).

On that note, let the countdown to SXSW 2014 begin!
