2015 is upon us, and although we don’t have our hoverboards or time traveling DeLoreans, this year is shaping up to be monumental for GeoRiot. As we move into the new year and approach our 5th birthday this February, we wanted to take a look back at all of the incredible milestones that you helped us achieve in 2014!
I’m sure you may be asking yourself, “Who are Tapdaq?” So, let’s start by answering that question.
Tapdaq is a community of developers who exchange insights and installs to help each other build better applications and acquire users, for no cost.
Ultimately, we believe developers who build high quality applications should have a fair opportunity to succeed, and from the start, GeoRiot has been helping us to achieve this.
The Story of Bob McRecords
Bob McRecords arrives at his office on the 12th floor of the EarJam record label headquarters Monday morning as usual, still wiping the sleep from his eyes and sipping his first coffee. He had spent the weekend attending shows for one of the label’s biggest artists and was suffering the consequences of back-to-back late nights out. But it’s a big week for EarJam Records, and more specifically for Bob. Their newest musical superstar will be releasing her debut album and, as the digital marketing manager for the label, it’s up to Bob to ensure that it sells. As Bob drains the final sip of his liquid energy, he settles into his chair and prepares for his best marketing effort, ever.
Today, Bob is not just a digital marketer. Today Bob is a superhero in the world of Digital Marketing, saving the damsel in distress from flat record sales, and taking EarJam records into Profit Town – one digital album at a time.
As you’re going about the affiliation of your iTunes and App Store links, you may have noticed some parameters at the end of each, similar to the following:
Ever wondered what those are for? Many people do (or don’t) and inadvertently strip off the important ones which can lead to an unfortunate user experience (like trying to buy a game in the iTunes app and getting an error). For those using the GeoRiot global linking and affiliation service this is never a concern as it’s handled by us, but for those taking on the battle alone, or who are just curious, we put together this little cheat sheet for you.
In the past couple of weeks Apple has made huge strides in supporting pre-orders. What does this mean for affiliate program users? In addition to making pre-order content available in the affiliate tools, pre-order track or album purchases will now result in a commission – even if it’s more than three days until “Street Date.”
Supporting pre-orders has always been important to us (and required some crazy hackery in the past!). We believe artists and labels should be able to leverage the affiliate program for all of their iTunes store offerings. We’re excited about this improvement and the ability to now offer complete support by extending the benefits of our service to include global pre-order links!
