We’re back again to announce Geniuslink auto-affiliation support for yet another affiliate program, this time, for The Home Depot!

Founded over 40 years ago, The Home Depot is currently the largest home improvement retailer in the US, and with over 2.3 million products in their catalog, you are sure to find the perfect product that your customers need to “get more done.”

With The Home Depot + Geniuslink integration, you can now build links and earn commissions through The Home Depot affiliate program easier than ever!

Overview

The Home Depot is a well known trusted storefront that has been around since its founding in 1978 by Bernard Marcus, Arthur Blank, Ron Brill, and Pat Farrah. Founded to bring home-improvement superstores with facilities larger than any existing competitors to the American consumer, The Home Depot opened with its first stores in Atlanta, Georgia, in spaces that were previously “hypermarket” department and grocery stores. And within a matter of only a few years, it went public on the New York Stock exchange in April of 1984. Since then, The Home Depot has acquired multiple home improvement retailers and has surpassed its much older competitor, Lowe’s.

The Home Depot now offers a wide range of products, including various equipment, supplies, and tools for gardening, plumbing, building, and decorating.

However, while The Home Depot has a stronghold on the brick and mortar market, we are focused only on the homedepot.com site itself. The Home Depot’s site is currently ranked as the 117th most popular site in the world, the 35th in the United States and the 2nd for Home and Garden > Home and Garden, according to SimilarWeb

The Home Depot Affiliate Program

With a vast selection of products for home improvement and decoration, the Home Depot Affiliate Program is an excellent alternative for diversifying your affiliate portfolio away from using only the Amazon Associates program.

This well-established affiliate program, run through Impact Radius, offers numerous advantages to their affiliates besides just commissions, including: a diverse variety of banner ads, a daily product data feed, text links, and most importantly, high-quality support from both the homedepot.com affiliate account managers, as well as the top-notch tech support provided by the Impact platform.

Commission Rates and Cookie Windows

While the average commission percentage of only 2.14% on products, “buy online pick up in-store orders,” and mobile is marginally lower than Amazon’s 3% commission percentage for similar Home and Home Improvement products, The Home Depot has an average basket size of over $300, which means you will still be able to earn a substantial commission for every purchasing customer you refer!

And while Amazon may offer higher commission rates, The Home Depot offers a wide range of high quality and expensive products. Its diverse assortment of specialty products makes it a fantastic option for sending your customers to the exact product they need for their DIY projects.

Furthermore, The Home Depot provides its customers with an outstanding system for getting acquainted with products and seeing if they’re interested in them. Its high-quality review system, DIY blog, comparison tables, and live chat make it a valuable resource for helpful information.

Be that as it may, much like Amazon, The Home Depot has a 24-hour cookie window meaning that if anyone clicks on your link and makes a purchase within a day of clicking your Home Depot Link, you’ll earn a commission on all of the products they purchase.

And while we, unfortunately, couldn’t find the EPC for The Home Depot, we were able to find the program has a 1.87% conversion rate at the time we’re writing this article.

The Home Depot + Geniuslink

The Impact affiliate network dashboard is one of the more streamlined platforms available for assembling affiliate links. However, depending on your workflow, it is still a bit of a process to create an affiliated product link for The Home Depot.

With our newly added support, any raw product link direct from homedepot.com can be affiliated easily using our Geniuslink dashboard or Chrome Extension. You can rest easy, knowing that a simple link from The Home Depot is all you need to pass clicks along to their destination with your affiliate parameters included.

We call this process “Auto-affiliation,” and it’s very quick to set up. All you need to do is grab your Partner ID from the Impact dashboard and drop it into the Affiliate page of the Geniuslink dashboard under ‘The Home Depot (Impact).’ Once we have that seven-digit number, any geni.us links you build for homedepot.com products will have your affiliate parameters appended automatically!

Alternatively, our rollout of Sovrn Commerce (formerly Viglink) support a year ago makes it possible to monetize The Home Depot links without applying directly to the Impact managed program. There are many reasons for using Sovrn. But signing up for the Home Depot affiliate program directly and adding your Media Partner ID into Geniuslink is our recommendation. Doing this allows you to keep 100% of the commissions earned from the program (vs. the ~ 75% paid out when using an affiliate aggregator like Sovrn).

Excited to dig in and get started using Geniuslink with the Home Depot affiliate program? Great! We have a few suggestions to help you diversify your affiliate revenues through augmenting your Amazon affiliate links.

Choice Pages

We’ve been doubling down on Choice Pages and maintaining our stance that curation and choice are good for the consumer (and ultimately, you).

If you’re not familiar, they enable you to promote a single product across multiple storefronts. And thanks to our new Suggestions feature, it’s easier than ever to build them! Providing options to your visitors will improve their shopping experience, and you’ll monetize the sale no matter which storefront they end up picking. More info on how to set up a Choice Page can be found in our Knowledge Base.

You can see an example here — geni.us/electricdriver

With a Choice Page, you can promote Amazon and The Home Depot affiliate links side by side in a clean, intuitive way. And you can even diversify your affiliate revenue – which our research shows helps to increase your affiliate earnings

Additionally, to help make creating a choice page even more straightforward, our new Suggestions feature allows you to quickly find products across multiple storefronts, including The Home Depot!

A/B Split Links

The Amazon.com Associates program is often a mainstay way to earn commissions from US-based clicks. However, we’d encourage you to run an experiment if it’s the best option for your audience and recommended products. The A/B Split Test links provide a platform to track between two or more affiliate programs closely.

Using an A/B Split Test link allows you to compare the performance of Amazon’s affiliate program to the Home Depot affiliate program in case you wanted to evaluate replacing your Amazon affiliate links with another affiliate program.

Conclusion

With the addition of the Home Depot Affiliate program, we have now increased our total affiliate program support to over 18 different affiliate programs! Additionally, with the recent launch of our Suggestions feature (which will automatically offer you suggested links to The Home Depot products), we’re more fired up than ever to add additional affiliate programs to our roster.

So stay tuned in the coming months as we add even more great programs!

As always, we look forward to hearing from you!
