Overview

eBay has been around for 25 years, a well-known internet icon since the beginning of the dot com days. Today, eBay is a global commerce leader that connects millions of buyers and sellers in 190 markets worldwide.

The added bonus of adding eBay to your affiliate programs is that you can help small businesses and entrepreneurs grow. When you refer to a product from the eBay website, you put money in those businesses’ pockets. With vintage wear and home goods becoming popular again, eBay is the hub for vintage sellers that you can tap into when adding eBay Affiliate Program to your tool belt.

eBay Partner Network is a strong player in the retail affiliate world and is home to a large selection of popular and unique products. With its vast selection, eBay’s 159 million active buyers worldwide are sure to find the exact item they’re looking for, at a great price. The eBay.com site is ranked #2 for E-commerce and shopping > Marketplace according to SimilarWeb.

eBay Affiliate Program

The eBay Partner Network is an excellent alternative for those looking to diversify their affiliate portfolio away from the Amazon Associates Program and those who would like a more niche affiliate program. The affiliate program is a well-established program run through their network, eBay Partner Network (ePN).

Commission Rates and Cookie Windows

The commission percentage for eBay’s affiliate program ranges from 1% – 4%. When signing up for the program, it will specify each category and its exact rates.

Since eBay is so diverse in its products ranging from trinkets to automobiles, the commission you get back has a cap for each category of products ranging from $100 to $550. eBay is diverse in its price points and categories, which means you will be able to earn a solid commission from customers you refer to your favorite products even with the commission limit!

Additionally, eBay and Amazon may compete in many different ways, but in their cookie window, they are compatible. eBay and Amazon both allow a cookie window of 24 hours.

eBay + Geniuslink

While the ePN dashboard is a user-friendly platform for assembling affiliate links, it can still be a bit cumbersome to create an affiliated product link for eBay.

With our newly added support, any raw product link direct from eBay.com can be affiliated quickly using our Geniuslink dashboard or Chrome Extension.

A simple link from eBay.com is all you need to pass clicks along to their destination with your affiliate parameters included.

We call this process “Auto-affiliation,” and it’s speedy to set up. All you need to do is grab your Campaign ID from the ePN dashboard and drop it into the Affiliate page of the Geniuslink dashboard under ‘eBay (ePN).’

You will notice that there are 14 separate eBay Partner Network countries listed here, but luckily you only need to be signed up with one of the ePN programs in order to earn commissions from each one of these countries.

Once you are signed up, simply add your seven-digit Campaign ID, for each of the countries where you would like to earn commissions from, and any geni.us links you build for eBay products will automatically have your affiliate parameters appended using the correct link format (note that eBay’s affiliate link format changed in early 2021)!

Please note that our Sovrn Commerce (f.k.a. VigLink) and Skimlinks support rollout also enables you to monetize eBay links through either of these monetization platforms (as long as you are approved for the program via your account). There are multiple benefits of using Sovrn Commerce or Skimlinks, but signing up directly through ePN and adding your Campaign ID into Geniuslink allows you to keep 100% of your commissions earned from the program (vs. the ~ 75% that is paid out when using an affiliate aggregator).

Let’s go through a few tricks to make you a Geniuslink pro before you even start. With Geniuslink and the eBay affiliate program, you can diversify your affiliate revenues by supplementing your Amazon affiliate links with these few steps.

A/B Split Links

The Amazon Associates program is often a mainstay way to earn commissions. However, we encourage you to run an experiment and see if it’s the best option for your audience and the products you recommend. A/B Split Test links provide a platform to track between two or more affiliate programs closely.

If you wanted to evaluate replacing your Amazon affiliate links with another affiliate program, you could use A/B Split test link. The test link allows you to compare the performance of Amazon’s Affiliate Program to the eBay Affiliate Program.
