When is a Day Not a Day?

The answer: When it’s Black Friday! This year Black Friday is officially 29 November 2024 and Cyber Monday is December 2nd. Every year though, as Black Friday rapidly approaches, speculations start flying around trying to guess when retailers will announce which dates they’re running Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sales. What started off as a single day sale has been stretched and extended by different retailers in so many different ways that it feels like someone should hand out medals if you even come close to guessing all the various strategies they’ll adopt.

So every year it’s the same challenge creators, publishers and affiliate marketers perform a balancing act of trying to time marketing and content creation to land perfectly make the most of the opportunity.

We built a list.

We started with our clients in mind but we’re sure this should be useful to affiliate marketers everywhere. We’ve compiled the handy reference list below of the various Black Friday sales dates.

We accept we couldn’t possibly list every retailer large and small but (as you probably already know) Geniuslink supports a long list of retailers with our built-in optimizations to help you earn more money and save time so we figured that would be the basis for our Big List of Black Friday Sales Dates.

Why it Matters?

For people who have spent more than a little time in the affiliate marketing game know that these details can mean the difference between a good year and an amazing year.

This fourth quarter of the year is typically where annual sales results for retailers jump from being in the red (making a loss) to being in the black (turning a profit) which according to Wikipedia (yes, we know our research game is on fire) gives Black Friday some of it’s significance. The reality is that there’s a limit to the number of pumpkins  Beetlejuice, Deadpool & Wolverine costumes you can sell in October so every year bricks & mortar and e-commerce retailers look to November and December to bring home the revenue.

What this means for us in the world of affiliate commissions – this is the surge in traffic, interest and buyer intent that we want to contribute to and benefit from. For most of us, content is a huge part of the equation and so timing that content is key  to matching and aligning content with the types of sales offers and deals helps drive conversion.

Give them Choice.

Consumers are naturally trying to find Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals so comparison shopping should be expected and you can help your audience by implementing Choice Pages. We’ve done the math and Choice Pages showed more than double the earnings per click on average compared to direct-to-Amazon links.

What was really unexpected was that not only did our clients gain new revenue from offering multiple purchase options, they also significantly increased commissions from their Amazon links!
